Don't be Afraid

In the past couple of years, I’ve heard ‘don’t be afraid’ quite often … don’t be afraid of the mountain we’re going to ski down or the trees that are sprinkled on the slope… don’t be afraid of going out on your own… don’t be afraid of the virus … DON’T BE AFRAID.

Sometimes I swear that only fuels my fear. It’s like every part of me starts to scream back… ‘but I am afraid and I think I have good reason to be afraid.’ In those moments, fear is my truth and when someone tries to tell me, well-meaning of course, that my truth is false, well I just don’t have the capacity to hear it.

Rather than trying to usher away the fears, what if we accepted them? What if we even thanked them? Thank you for showing me what I care about. Thank you for helping me to find ways to be and stay safe. Thank you for helping me to focus and for motivating me.

Rather than our well-meaning loved ones telling us not to be afraid. What if they acknowledged our fears and stood with us anyways? What if they said, ‘I can see/feel/hear that you are afraid, I am right here, and here’s how I can support you….’

What would you do then? What would you do if you were fully accepted and supported by yourself and by others? Would you take that turn down the mountain or that first step in changing your life?

When I work with you, my goal is to meet you just where you are, as you are, to be clear on how I am able to support you and let the magic happen from there!
